			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have become fascinated with the presidential candidacy of Ron Paul. Although running as a Republican, he is really a libertarian and what he terms a constitutionalist&#8230;that is he always makes his congressional vote on any topic based on whether it is upheld by the constitution&#8230;a radical idea these days! While I don&#8217;t agree on every issue with him, I agree with his core ideals of individual liberty and his foreign policy of non-interventionism (except for Dennis Kucinich, the only candidate calling for an immediate end to the Iraq war!).</p>
<p>What readers of this site might find interesting is his Health Freedom Protection Act. If you are worried about <a href="http://circleofhealers.com/journal/?cat=26">Codex Alimentarius</a> (and you should be!) and similar infringements from big pharma on your right to alternative health treatments, then <a href="http://www.ronpaul2008.com/articles/58/free-speech-and-dietary-supplements/">this bill</a> will cheer you up!</p>
<p>I strongly urge you to check out Ron Paul and where he stands on the issues. There is a large and growing grassroots movement to get him elected. It&#8217;s a rare thing for me to get excited about a presidential candidate, but here is a man with integrity and one that will work to restore the constitution that has been shredded by the gang of thieves currently in the white house. <p>The menu was:<br />
Living Lasagna<br />

<p>It was fantastic! The food all came out amazingly delicious and I&#8217;m impressed with both of our gourmet cuisine skills. But it was all a LOT of work! In fact it took us pretty much the entire day. The big time use was of course the lasagna which had 6 different layers all prepared separately: tomato sauce, nut cheese, nut meat, pesto, marinated greens and sliced zucchini. </p>
<p>I remember how important dishes like this were when I first started on the raw trip (almost a year now!). They were a great transition food and you can see many of our recipes in the recipes category&#8230;.now my diet is so much simpler&#8230;.a large superfood smoothie in the morning (raw cacao, maca, bee pollen, mesquite, berries and much more!)..then snack through the day mostly on whole foods: apples, oranges, hemp seeds, olives, coconut butter&#8230;sometimes a salad&#8230;only very occasionally do we make fancy food&#8230;.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m happy to be so satisfied on such a simple diet..it makes my life so much easier! Also I noticed just how nut-heavy our meal yesterday was. I cannot imagine eating that many nuts regularly again. I usually make hemp seed milk in the morning for my smoothie instead of almond milk&#8230;I find seeds much easier to digest..now I have nuts only occasionally and in smaller quantities.</p>
<p>But it was quite gratifying to make such an amazing feast that the all of the &#8220;cooked fooders&#8221; there were blown away by the quality of it..Some of them are going to come to our <a href="http://bodytemple.us">Body Temple</a> event too. Yay!

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last night I had an unusual evening of feeling down&#8230;it&#8217;s very rare for me these days to feel depressed or down or anxious. Staying on a mostly raw diet with an infusion of high-octane superfoods keeps me in a mostly perpetual state of happiness. So what caused these negative emotions? A number of things happened yesterday but the main culprit is obvious to me: I had eaten a cooked meal including bread, cooked veggies, potato chips and a few other cooked items. My whole energy field went CA-KLUNK! (yes it actually made that sound!). </p>
<p>For the most part when I look around at people, I can see that most of them are anxious, mildly depressed and generally ill at ease in their bodies. Most have a constant source of bodily pain of some type&#8230;backaches, headaches, digestive issues etc. A surprisingly large number are on some sort of prescribed chemical cocktail. The other day me and my partner went to my sons school open house. There we were with a room full of parents. It was strange&#8230;.I felt like I was in a room of old people&#8230;like I didn&#8217;t belong there. Were all of these people pretty much my age or younger? It was hard to believe. Generally we tend to hang out with people younger than us finding people our age to be quite mature (i.e. dull). Seeing these parents was further motivation for me to stay on the high vibe diet. I do not want to get old!!</p>
<p>So how even after that was I in a cafe yesterday eating a sandwich? Cooked food is addictive!! Very very addictive. If you&#8217;ve tried to eat all raw you&#8217;ll know what I mean. I find having an all raw partner helps immensely (she&#8217;s much better at not cheating than me). When I&#8217;m alone like yesterday I am much more likely to cheat. But I&#8217;m not going to get down on it&#8230;I&#8217;m on a journey and when I fall I get back up again. The important thing is that I do not do such things unconsciously&#8230;I was very conscious that the &#8220;food&#8221; was bad for me and that it would make me feel ill&#8230;for whatever reason, the impulse to eat and enjoy it was stronger than my fear of feeling ill. In retrospect it was of course not worth it to enjoy my sandwich for 10 minutes and feel crappy the rest of the day. </p>
<p>I did come to the realization (again) that cooked food ruins your taste for REAL (uncooked) food and eating ALL REAL food (98%+) ruins your taste for cooked food. This hovering at 80%-90% keeps me in a state of anxiety where I always have to make decisions on whether to cheat or not. When I&#8217;m a true raw foodist, I do not even have to think&#8230;I&#8217;ll look at the cookies in the bakery and of course say no because they&#8217;re cooked..or I&#8217;ll look at the food I&#8217;m making for my son and of course I don&#8217;t eat it..it&#8217;s cooked! I do not have to make constant decisions. So I am once again getting back up in the saddle and going for it. I will let you know how it goes!

Alas this journal has been quite neglected&#8230;through a very busy spring and very relaxed summer I have not posted&#8230;but I am thinking to get back to this on a more regular basis now that things are cooling down up here in the North and I have more time.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m still on the raw food and loving it! I seem to grow younger all the time..not only in looks, but in how I feel. I can hardly believe it when I look at photos of myself a year ago. I will see if I can get some more before/after photos. Mostly though I am absolutely thrilled at the discovery of Superfoods&#8230;these are foods of high nutritional density and are having an incredible impact on me.  I have been using a superfood blend for several months now and my overall vibrancy level is awesome. These foods are full of minerals that we don&#8217;t normally get&#8230;even on a raw food diet so I feel my body being remineralized&#8230;I used to wake up craving tea in the morning&#8230;now I get up and crave my superfood!! </p>
<p>I will do a whole post about superfoods soon with recommendations..I would actually like to write a book on the subject and perhaps I will!

I fill up my vitamix up the one quart level with loose leaf per drink. Then I add a good handful of frozen mango chunks, about 1/2 handful of pineapple chunks and some 1/2 handful of rasberries. Then I add about one cup of water and blend. </p>
<p>Other variations include adding a banana, grinding some flax seed first before the greens, fresh papaya, strawberries, blueberries and just about anything else yummy and raw. I&#8217;m hooked!!</p>

A deep sense of satisfaction.  We got the idea from the book Green for Life by Vicoria Boutenko which I recommend. </p>
<p>We got our Vitamix a couple of weeks ago and have been digging it up and down. Every morning we&#8217;ll put a big bunch of greens of all different kinds in it along with some water and fruit chunks&#8230;I like using frozen mango, pineapple and banana especially. The vitamix makes quick work of it and it turns into a yummy green/fruit smoothie. I prefer more fruit than Kala does, but either way it is plenty green. We have also been throwing in some wild edibles such as nettles and dandelion. </p>
<p>The magic of it is that it is predigested&#8230;.normally one would have to chew and chew greens to get them to this state which we of course don&#8217;t naturally do. With the cell walls ruptured, you&#8217;re drinking a glass of totally assimilative chlorophyll! It is different from juicing as it is a whole food&#8230;.plenty of fiber in it. </p>
<p>In any case I&#8217;m hooked! The vitamix is great, though one could do it in a blender as well. We have been using the vitamix to make fruit sorbet, soups (avocado, cucumber and tomato is my favorite!) and almond milk. I&#8217;d highly recommend getting one though it is expensive. In the long run though it will live on the length of many blenders. It can also handle anything! I put frozen solid fruit in there and it makes a yummy frozen fruit smoothie. It&#8217;s a real badass piece of machinery for a raw foodist to own!

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are currently reading a book called Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko. In it she talks about how having been raw for a number of years, she and her family &#8220;hit a wall&#8221; in their level of health and happiness with their all raw food diet. After months of research she concluded that the reason was that they were not getting enough greens. A large part of her conclusion came to studying the eating habits of chimpanzees who eat a LARGE quantity of greens every day. In addition to the quantity they thoroughly masticate each bite. Having jaws weakened through a lifetime of eating soft  cooked food, we do not have the jaw muscles required to do this. Also, as greens tend to be bitter, most people have a hard time eating nearly as much. We&#8217;ve been eating a large salad every day&#8230;I would guess approximately 3-4 ounces a day of mesclun greens/spring mix. Combined with avocados, nuts etc this is a BIG salad! However, Victoria suggests that we should eat up to 2 POUNDS a day of them!! Most people are simply incapable of eating this much salad every day&#8230;.</p>
<p>Enter the GREEN SMOOTHIE! Take a huge amount of greens, some water, throw in bananas or some other kind of fruit to make it palatable and blend thoroughly. It is supposed to be quite palatable and extremely healthy. The health effects she writes about that she experienced as well as the many pages of testimonials in the book are quite impressive ranging from serious conditions being completely healed to grey hair turning brown again! </p>
<p>We have not tried this yet due to a lack of a blender, but the book was inspiring enough to have me shell out $300 for a vitamix! I will write more about this when our vitamix arrives.</p>
